Shaun Roger White was born September 3, 1986 in San Diego, California. White was born with a congenital heart defect and had two cardiac surgeries before the age of 5.
At the age of 6 Shaun started snowboarding at June Mountain in California. In order to slow him down his mother told Shaun to ride switch down the hill, making him proficient in both stances. Soon after he started riding, Shaun’s mother called Burton and asked if they had a kids board for him to ride. That started a great relationship which stands to this day. Burton was Shaun Whites first sponsor.

He skateboards at the Encinitas YMCA to practice vert for contests. He also practices and films on the Boom Boom Huck Jam Ramp with Tony Hawk and Bucky Lasek.
Shaun is currently filming for the upcoming Birdhouse video with Tony Hawk. There are rumors that he has already pulled the 1080 but doesn’t want to release the footage.
Shaun is an American professional snowboarder and skateboarder based in Carlsbad, California. He has 10 Xgames gold medals and won the Winter Olympics Snowboard Halfpipe event in 2006 in Torino Italy. White’s height is 5′ 8.5″ tall.
Shaun got his nickname “The Flying Tomato” because of his giant red hair. Rolling Stone magazine wrote “he used to embrace it, even wearing headbands with a flying-tomato logo, but he has grown tired of it.” I think Shaun is over the nickname.
